This is https://www.holyroodwool.org.uk

The old Holy Rood Wool website at http://www.holyroodwool.org has closed at the end of December 2023 and will transfer to this address.

This replacement site uses almost the same address

but now starts with https (more secure)

and with  ".uk" added at the end.

This replacement site will not be updated much, except to correct any notified errors, and will have some church history etc., that may be of interest.

History and features are here (link opens in new window)

There is an active website for

West Purbeck Benefice

The West Purbeck Benefice (of which Holy Rood is a part) has its new website at the following address:

http://westpurbeck.org.uk

Please bookmark the new site now for all our up to date news and events and services etc.

Welcome to Holy Rood! - part of the West Purbeck Benefice

This website (www.holyroodwool.org) tells you about the Church of Holy Rood, Wool, Dorset. (Wool is situated between Wareham and Dorchester, in the county of Dorset, UK.)

Holy Rood is the parish church of Wool and East Stoke incorporating Coombe Keynes, Bovington and East Burton. We're part of the Church of England and the Benefice of West Purbeck, within the the Diocese of Salisbury, and within the worldwide Anglican community.

(The West Purbeck Benefice Website  has the most up to date information and is updated often, unlike this older site.)

The West Purbeck Benefice Prayer

Holy God we thank you that you have called us to be your people across the West Purbeck Benefice.

We praise you for the beauty that surrounds us, the people who make up our communities, the visitors whom we welcome and above all for the gift of faith you have given to us.

Help us through prayer and worship to grow closer to you, through service and care to reflect your love, and through mission to share your Good News with all around us.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Parish Giving Scheme

If you would like to give a donation to support Holy Rood, we are very grateful.

Our QR Code with the Parish Giving Scheme is as follows - you can scan this with your smartphone camera, or else click on the above link:

Why Use the Parish Giving Scheme?

The Parish Giving Scheme is run by the Church of England. If you pay UK income tax and you choose to Gift Aid your donation, it helps our church with an extra 25% - and at no cost to you. There is an online form for the Gift Aid but you can still be anonymous to Holy Rood church if you wish.

(Unlike JustGiving, you - and we - are not charged extra fees nor invited to pay them. The administrative cost of operating the scheme is covered by each member diocese, making the service free to use for churches and donors. Every pound donated through PGS can be put to Christian service in the local community, free from time-consuming admin.)

JustGiving

We also use JustGiving to enable people who wish to, to donate to Holy Rood via the web.

Go to the JustGiving site by using the button below (or use your smartphone camera with the QR code):

More about Holy Rood . . .

You can take a look at some of Holy Rood's history, with pictures of the church interior. Outside and in, we have a lot of help from our enthusiastic and highly skilled Churchyard team.

The church is a vital part of the life of the community and we aim to be a friendly and welcoming church.

We look forward to meeting you . . .

We describe ourselves as 'middle of the road' welcoming of all.

Our vision is to be "A church without walls" and our aims are that: -

<

We long to see God grow His church in Wool and to help increasing numbers of people to come to faith in Him.

<

We want to deepen our own relationship with God based on sound preaching and biblical teaching.

<

We want to reach out to all ages across the community.

<

We seek to have a visible presence in the parish outside our church based activities, showing God's relevance to every aspect of our lives.

Pastoral Care - Where to find help when you need it

Each of us has times in life when we need help. These may be a result of a bereavement, illness, or any of life's unexpected changes. It may be for a simple, one-off opportunity to talk things over; or it may be for someone to visit regularly.

Whatever your need, we want to be able to help you. In this parish, we have a team of people who have gifts in pastoral care. If you would like someone to visit you, please contact the Church Office.

(For Clergy contact details see Who's Who)
